Penzel-Mueller Clarinet
Key of C ?
Approx. 20 1/4 inches long
Wood.
This clarinet has been sold.
I told the buyer that I could not get it to play in tune, but he evidently enjoyed the challenge.
He is in the process of make a new barrel for it that is substantially shorter than the barrel that came with the clarinet.
Little wonder it did not play in tune.
The new owner had it back in just the other day (Feb. '08).
One of the needle springs had come unseated from the post and needed to be reseated and I also had to do some bending of
the spring because it was sort of hitting the key and binding it up. I swedged the key also to lengthen it to remove
end play between the post.
The left-hand pinkie finger touches needed repositioning, so I did some adjustment (aka bending) of them.
And evidently the sub-zero arctic weather had loosened up the shellac holding two of the pads in. It was what I call White
French shellac...kinda looks like toffee or something. I think hot-melt glue works better when the instrument is subjected
to extremes of temperature.
Looks basically Boehm with a couple small differences.
Newer pads and cork.
Where do I find a mouthpiece?
