Brilhart "Powertone"
Alto Sax mouthpiece

$165

The Powertone mouthpieces, made for Boosey and Hawkes, London, are relatively unknown in the U.S.
Few were made, and fewer survive.
They were manufactured in the same factory that produced Brilhart Streamlines, Personalines and others, but were made using the same clear acrylic resin as the rare Tonalites.
This one is clearly Marked "Powertone".
The dimensions are classic Brilhart.

The large bulb-shaped shank was designed to resist cracking, just as the British-made Brilharts were banded at the factory for the same reason.

This mouthpiece was professionally refaced from the original .061" tip opening to a more contemporary .076".
There is a clear tooth patch on the beak of this mouthpiece.

I also have in a tenor Powertone as well.

A few surface stress-cracks are visible, but as with the Tonalites, these are common to the material used and do not affect the integrity of the mouthpiece in any way.

The tone is resonant and powerful. It's a very rare Brilhart design for players or collectors, and one that you may not see again. Very reasonably priced.

Professor Anton Weinberg, U.K., Member of the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, contributed to the identification and description of this mouthpiece.

It was challenging to photograph this mouthpiece, you can tell from the different lights and colors that I tried variety of ways to photograph it.
