ARB #5
Tenor Mpc., modified for C-Melody

You can play it as intended on a micro-tuner neck, namely pushing it all the way onto the cork and using the micro-tuner screw neck to tune it.
If the shank hadn't been shortened, this would not be possible, you wouldn't have been able to push it on far enough.

There was also work done to the baffle, easing down the edge of the baffle shelf. This made the mouthpiece a little less bright, a better tonal balance and brought the palm keys, which were a little sharp, into tune.

The Beechler/ARB website shows that the ARB Metal Tenor 5 mouthpiece has a .090 tip opening.
The high baffle makes it seem to play like a slightly smaller tip opening.
This mouthpiece really opens up the entire range of what might otherwise be a somewhat stuffy horn and gives it a clarion sound that allows it to step forward in an ensemble and seize a solo turn if desired. The great thing is that while the low notes are commanding and clear, the upper register does not become brittle as is sometimes the case with large baffle mpces.

This mouthpiece comes with a cap and a customized Rovner ligature. A metal plate has been cemented to the reed side of the ligature to allow the reed to better resonate.

The ARB metal tenor mpc. goes for $204 on the Cascio Interstate website.

ARB C-Melody Mpce.
